It is with a mix of bemusement and fond remembrance that we bid farewell to Alfie Garrett, a truly unique soul who departed this realm on Thanksgiving, November 23, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. He lived a life that defied convention, leaving an indelible mark on those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. Alfie is survived by his beloved daughter Wylie Garrett, his son Milo Garrett, his mother Nola Garrett, his brothers Eric Kreutzkamp and Channing Garrett, his ever-loyal furry companion Granny, and a plethora of diverse and loving friends. Born in Erie, PA, on September 25, 1970, Alfie entered the world with an innate quirkiness that set him apart from the start. From childhood, it was evident that he was destined to march to the beat of his own drum - a drum that was often tuned to a melody that only he could hear. Throughout his life, Alfie pursued passions that ranged from the unique to the downright bizarre. He had an outstanding ability to find beauty in the unusual and charm in the peculiar. Whether earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Edinboro University, voraciously reading and acquiring knowledge, de constructing metal objects at local scrap yards, such as AAA Scrap and Warhola Scrap, collecting unique objects and trinkets which he incorporated into one-of-a-kind sculptures and jewelry, tinkering projects, bouncing riffraff out of local pubs, including the 31st St Pub and Gooski's, or just befriending anyone and everyone who he perchance encountered, Alfie reveled in the peculiarities of life. All who knew him would surely agree he had a penchant for unconventional problem-solving and the ability to see beauty in the everyday ordinary. A social enigma, Alfie managed to build an eclectic circle of friends who, like moths to a flame, were drawn to his magnetic kindness and oddity. Alfie had a knack for turning the mundane into the extraordinary, and his presence could transform any gathering into a carnival of fun and absurdity. Throughout his life, even his wardrobe and outward appearance was a testament to his refusal to conform. Alfie was a pioneer, inspiring both amusement and admiration for his fearless embrace of the unconventional. As we mourn the passing of Alfie, let us celebrate the wonderfully strange tapestry of his life. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, bewilderment, and a reminder that the truest beauty often lies in the unconventional corners of existence. May Alfie rest in peace, surrounded by the whimsical wonders that made his life truly one of a kind.
