Mary C. Zirckel

Mary Zirckel Heaven welcomed a much-favored daughter on Friday, February 28, 2025, when Mary Catherine Zirckel passed away at the age of 83. When the bible describes the many gifts from God, it states that Love is the greatest gift. Agape love is a term that describes a selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love, and is the highest form of love. 1 Corinthians Ch. 13 describes Agape love as a love that "...suffers long and is kind; does not envy; does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." Those who knew Mary know that she lived and modeled these attributes daily. Mary entered heaven after leaving behind a legacy of love for all that knew her, fulfilling her life as a good and faithful servant, and has now entered into the joyful presence of the Lord. Mary was born on October 10, 1941, in Pittsburgh, PA to James B. Shackelford and Mary (Quinn) Shackelford. Mary was married to William Hrynda in 1960, and had four children together. Preceding Mary in passing are her parents, James B. and Mary (Quinn) Shackelford, brother James (Jimmy) Shackelford Jr., daughter Jeanne (Hrynda) Hurley, and close lifelong friend Lorelei Machi. Mary is survived by her son Jeff Hrynda and wife Laura, her son Bret Hrynda, her daughter Donna Mascilli, and her son-in-law Bill Hurley. Mary is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren: Darren Mascilli, Desirae Corona (Vince), Deidra Albanese (Nino), Devin Mascilli (Autumn), Krysten Loudermilk (Andrew), Bryan Hrynda (Jessica), Alec Hrynda, Nick Hurley, Alex Hurley, and Victoria Miller; Great grandchildren: Arrie Loudermilk, Noah Loudermilk, Keenan Hurley, and Enzo Corona. Mary also leaves behind many very special friends, including lifelong close friends Kathleen (Thinnes) McClusky, Catherine (O'Connor) Coyne, and Ginny (Polk) Schram, all of whom have been friends since the third grade, as well as her friend Robert Lantz. Mary will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her! Visitation will be held at the D'ALESSANDRO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY LTD., Butler at 46th Sts., Lawrenceville, Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 2-4pm and from 6pm-8pm, where everyone will gather on Monday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Padre Pio Parish, St. Augustine Church on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 10am followed by interment at Allegheny Cemetery.
