Royce R. Patterson

Royce Randolph PATTERSON Royce Randolph Patterson was born on February 16, 1956, to the late Juanita and George Patterson Sr. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He departed this life on February 17, 2021 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Royce grew up in the East Liberty section of the city which was known as Frogtown. He attended Rogers School and Peabody High School where he played various sports. It was during his freshman year that he met the love of his life and soulmate of 47 years, Jackie Lowery Patterson. They moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 2007. Throughout his life, Royce was a hardworking man who never missed a day of work. He worked the Duquesne Club in Pittsburgh, PA for over 10 years and Home Depot warehouse for 12 years in Indianapolis. He was loved and respected in the communities that he lived in and was affectionately known as "Pap the OG" or just "Pap". Being a native of Pittsburgh, Royce was a diehard Steelers fan as well as a lover of baseball. He was very instrumental in his grandchildrens' athletic activities. He was a very personable and respected man who always gave his opinion and never took any crap from anybody. Royce leaves to mourn his wife, Jackie; his daughters, April Patterson, Heather Glover (Devontay), Sarah Smithson and one son, Michael Smithson; 10 grandchildren, Phillip Dudley (Kiah Mason), Dayonta (DaDa) Patterson, Che'von Patterson (Karla Hernandez), Alaysha Patterson, Steve Fielder, Hope Fielder, Barry Frierson III, Chaz Coles, Jr., Jace Allen and Amayah Smithson; 3 great-grandchildren, Kyndle Mason-Dudley, Caiden Mason-Dudley and Nora Lee. Her was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Darryle Patterson (Elaine) and James Patterson (Dolly). He leaves behind 3 sisters, Ernestine, Elaine, Cheryl (Rufus); four brothers, George (Rhonda Cook-Patterson), Paul, Keith (Rhonda Lipscomb-Patterson) and Lynn and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. And a very special thank you to our extended family, Nicole Conners and her family for all of their love and support over the years.
