Shirley M. MacLaughlin

God granted Shirley, 86, a peaceful passing in the arms of her beloved Jesus at home with her loved ones on June 11, 2023, to be resurrected to life eternal with her Lord and King. Shirley was born in Quincy, MA, daughter of Carleton Parsons and Josephine Grassa Parsons. She leaves behind her dearly loved children-Christine (Lawrence), Susan, Scott, and James (DeeDee); Siblings-Carolyn (Larry), Deanna (David) and Carl (Diana); Grandchildren-Sarah (Stephen), Michael, Kelsey (Wesley), Jessica (Jordan), Jimmy and Great-grandson, Jackson; Former husband Hal, many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, former in-laws and many others whom she took in as her very own sons and daughters, including Phil Echols who devoted many years of his life to her care. From the young age of 17, when Shirley received Jesus the Messiah as her Lord and Savior, she lived her life foremostly as a servant in obedience to him, allowing him to use her as his vessel to shine his love and kindness. This is demonstrated again and again by her actions of lovingly welcoming everyone, always caring for anyone in need and her quickness to forgive. Her warm caring spirit made her employment at the Lodi Unified School District the perfect job for her. Shirley enjoyed aiding the teachers with children who had disabilities and providing friendship to children at risk. She loved and cared for those children very deeply. Shirley's legacy is how well she loved and served others making them feel so very valued. An immediate natural burial took place at Penn Forest Burial Park in Verona, PA, where Shirley was laid to rest until the blast of the shofar. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) A gathering in the spirit of thanksgiving to the Almighty God and Creator for the gift he gave us in the life of Shirley will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Century Assembly, 550 W. Century Blvd., Lodi, CA at 3pm. All are welcome to join us as we honor God and Shirley, sharing fond memories of how this loving, godly woman enriched our lives.
