Sr. Carol Marie Troesch, OSF

Sr. Carol Marie Troesch, OSF, Age 92, of Pittsburgh, passed away on April 1, 2026. Beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Bachert) Troesch; loving sister of Alberta Amaismeier, Dorothy O'Brien, Rita Lehrman, Martha Kucharczak, Catherine Troesch, Clare O'Brien, Marian Lucas, Gladys Jakubowski, Eileen Huber, Grace Troesch, Jospeh, Jerome, Bernard, Herbert, and Norman. She is also survived my many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Sister Carol Troesch entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Millvale on January 6,1952. For 54 years Sister served in the Pittsburgh Diocese. Throughout her teaching ministry, Sister taught first and second grade. For 32 years, Sister Carol taught at Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy, formerly St. Scholastica School in Aspinwall, PA. It was here that she, was one of 17 teachers, who were named winners in the first Golden Apple Award program of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, which recognized outstanding performance in teaching. It was evident that Sister Carol loved teaching and she took her role as an educator very seriously. For Carol, her role as teacher was both challenging, exciting and full of promise for the opportunity to educate leaders for the 21st century. At the age of 75, she retired from teaching to return to Mt Alvernia. She did not rest for long as she soon became the coordinator of Scotus Hall on the campus. She continued in other forms of Congregational service until Sister took up residence at The Province of Wexford in 2019. In 2024, Carol became a resident at Vincentian Home where she continued to minister by her gentle spirit and joyful heart. Sister Carol loved her life as a Franciscan and credits her mother to fostering her vocation. Her mother once quoted St. Francis de Sales: "Do not try to be anything but what you are and do that perfectly." Throughout her life, Sister Carol certainly did that and for this she will always be remembered and forever loved by her family, friends and sisters in community. Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at St. Aidan Parish, St. Alexis Church, 10090 Old Perry Highway, Wexford, at 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Interment at Mt. Alvernia Cemetery.
