Catherine S. Fetterman

Catherine "Kate" S. Fetterman (Sands) Age 76, of Penn Hills, passed away at home on October 16, 2017, surrounded by family. Wife of the late Rev. John J. Fetterman; devoted mother of Jay T. (Anita) Carson, Christopher D. (Dar-Wen) Carson, Joshua D. (Melissa) Fetterman and the late Catherine C. Kelly; grandmother of Maria (Daniel) Carson, Carolyn Carson, Catherine Kuo, Mack (Erica) Carson, Jacob (Kellie) Carson, Ryan Carson, Katie Kelly, Emily Kelly and Reghan and Jasper Dalessandri-Fetterman; sister of Rosemary (Richard) Edwardson and Louee Dattilo; and cousin of Mary Ann Getty Sullivan. She was preceded in death by parents, Norman and Florine Sands; and siblings, Paul, John, Patricia and Christine. Kate was beautiful, kind and talented. She was married for more than forty years, meeting her husband when both were singing in the Mendelsohn Choir. She played piano and was a prolific maker of quilts. Many of her family have one or more of her beautiful creations to keep them warm and remind them of her devotion to her family. Special thanks to her family members and the staff of Comfort-Keepers who provided care for her in her home. Interment private. Memorial service 11am Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Calvary Episcopal Church, 315 Shady Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232. Reception to follow.
