Michael P. Brady
July 23, 1955 - February 4, 2016
Age 60 of Observatory Hill departed from this world suddenly on February 4, 2016. Beloved husband of Ines (Cutruzzula), loving father of Courtney (Brandon), Brianne, Haley, and Keely. Loving grandfather of Peyton, Hayden, Morgan, Lexi, and Declan. Brother of John T. (Sandy), Dan (Maureen). He was preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth and John, and his brother Jerry. He was survived by numerous dear nephews and nieces. Mike was the second father to many, including those he coached, or worked with or met along his life including Phoenix, Josh, Rachael, Aaryn and Tayjah. He also sponsored many others on their path to recovery. He survived every day knowing the love of the Lord. Mike was a coach, both on the field and off. He started coaching Courtney and Brie with Tee Ball, then with basketball, and onto soccer and softball with Haley and Keely. These past two years, Mike with John Salamacha, helped coach the Orange Crush Softball team (through the Brighton Heights Athletic Association and City League) on to two championships. Recently, Mike auditioned as a coach for the Pittsburgh Passion, Pittsburgh's women's football team, and was selected to be a Special Teams coach for the 2016 season. He was ecstatic! He loved being with the team, attending practice, reviewing the playbooks at night, thinking about traveling with the team, and taking coaching to the next level - to do what he did best, coach. His family will always be thankful that he had this short time with them, as it allowed him to live out a dream even if it was short-lived. His powerful messages, when you least expect them, provided comfort and guidance to many. "You can't drive forward looking in the rear view mirror," was something he would say to remind us not to be mired in the past, but to keep moving on with life. "Get in position and do not leave your feet," was another coaching moment to remind us to stay focused. He filled our days with them, while he shouldered the burdens of life, protecting his family however and whichever way he could. Mike was passionate and funny. His greatest joy in life was making those he loved happy. His jokes and impersonations made us laugh so hard. He focused on one thing, his family, and put all his heart into it. He put everyone before himself and gave the best gifts, and as one last gift and selfless act he is helping as many as 50 people as an organ donor. Even in death, he thought of others. Mike was a Soldier of God. He loved God, and would use His words to bring clear insight. "You can't put a question mark where God put a period," provided a clear message that we can't question why something bad is happening. To accept it as it is. We will always be grateful of the time we had with him. Yes, it's heartbreaking, but do not pity us, as we have had the best and biggest life with him. We will carry our beloved's words, spirit, love and encouraging support with us always.
