Sr. Ellen Gresock, OSF Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Sister Ellen Gresock, OSF at the age of 103 yrs. died peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 8. 2017. For 87 of those years, sister was a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities in Millvale, ministering at various times as a primary teacher, principal, formation vice director, home health care provider, program director for senior sisters, and in her final years ministering as a prayerful mentoring presence to all who met her. Sister Ellen is remembered as being a gifted story teller who held everyone's attention with her soft lifting voice and smiling eyes. Her sisters in community, as well as, her loving family and friends experienced her gentle spirit, her compassionate willingness to care for others, her genuine warmth and interest in the happenings around her, and most notably of all during the last nine years of her life, her patient acceptance of an illness which immobilized her and deprived her of the ability to speak. Sister Ellen was predeceased by her parents, John and Ellen; her brothers John, Brother Samuel, S.M. and Joseph; her sisters Ethel and Sister Mary Helen, OSF. She is survived by her loving cousin, Sister Rose Kuzma, OSF, and other devoted relatives and friends and by her sisters in religious community who were exceedingly blessed by her presence among them. Sister Ellen was a valiant woman, both in living and in dying. Visitation at the MT. ALVERNIA MOTHERHOUSE CHAPEL, 146 Hawthorne Road, Millvale on Friday from 1-7 PM, where Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at the Sisters Cemetery at Mt. Alvernia.
