Sister M. Colette Wintill OSF Age 91, on June 22, 2021. Daughter of the late Louis and Anna Janulitis Wintell; sister of the late Louis, Vincent, Anthony, Benjamin and George Wintill. Lucy Kevish, Ann McCracken and Blanche Schivley. Sister Colette Wintill joined the Sisters of St. Francis in Millvale from St. George's Parish in Pittsburgh on July 16, 1948. Sister ministered as both teacher and principal in numerous Pittsburgh Catholic schools from 1949-1988. She also taught in Catholic schools in Puerto Rico from 1963-1970. From 1991 - 1993 she served at the Mt. Alvernia Day Care/Learning Center. Sister Colette also enjoyed teaching in schools in Chicago IL and Towson Maryland until 2006. In 2006, she returned to Mt. Alvernia and filled her days with tutoring both children and adults in language skills. Her persistent desire to teach and to help others earned her a certificate of service from the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council in 2015. Sister remained an avid reader and enjoyed the services from the Carnegie Library Book Mobile. With her Franciscan Sisters, she boldly took up residence at The Waters in Wexford where her kind and generous spirit was appreciated by many of the staff. Throughout her life, she continued to enjoy the love and support of many nieces and nephews from the Kevish, Beitko and Wintill families. Sister Colette had always held throughout her 73 years with her Franciscan Community that religious life has been rich and fulfilling for her. Throughout her entire life, she preserved her favorite motto within her heart, "In everything give thanks." Both her family and her Franciscan sisters give thanks for Sister Colette Wintill.
