Garrigan Sr. Patricia OSF On Fri. April 22, 2016. Sister of Helen (William) Fassinger, Vicki (Frank) Fanta and the late Dolores (Lloyd) Hamashin; daughter of the late Cornelius and Helen Garrigan. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. S. Patricia (formerly S. Veronica) lived 66 years as a Franciscan sister from Mt. Alvernia, Millvale. For most of her years in the community, she ministered in health care at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia, she served for 31 years as laboratory manager, assistant administrator, and finally as chief executive officer. She also served in the medical field at St. Francis Hospital in New Castle, PA and St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA. During her years in Georgia some of her many involvements included serving on the board of directors for the local and state American Heart Association, Hospice and Goodwill. At one time she was a member of the board of directors and emeritus board member for the national "Forum for Health Care Planning" and a charter member of the International Medical Institute for Global Medical Network and the Columbus Quality Council Advisory Committee for Columbus College. For the past several years, sister resided in the health care unit at Mt. Alvernia where she won the hearts of all who met her with her Irish charm, wit, winning smile and gracious manner, Sister Patricia, while possessing an impressive professional resume, will be mostly remembered, in the words of former co-workers, for ''your love, guidance, service," and "being such a wonderful part of our young lives and making us the nurses and women we are today." Visitation at the MT. ALVERNIA MOTHERHOUSE CHAPEL, 146 Hawthorne Rd., Millvale, Sunday 2-8 pm, with a wake service being held at 6:15 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 11 am at the Mt. Alvernia Motherhouse. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Srs. Of St. Francis Ministry, Formation or Retirement Fund, 146 Hawthorne Rd., Pgh., PA 15209.
