Sr. Rosita Wellinger Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

WELLINGER Sr. Rosita, OSF On Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, Sr. Rosita completed her life of service to God. During her 58 years of ministry, Sister gave loving testimony to the mercy of God in her service to people in all walks of life. In 1948, she began teaching in elementary education at Corpus Christi and St. Henry Catholic Schools in 1951, the year of her final profession. Sister entered the health care ministry at St. Francis Hospital. In 1964, she became the Assistant Administrator. Sister enjoyed several decades of service in the St. Francis Health Care System. In 1994, Sister became the administrator of St. Francis Hospital, serving in this capacity until 2000. Sister served as Preceptor of Programs in Hospital and Health Administration with the University of Pittsburgh, Xavier University and Virginia Commonwealth University. Her professional memberships included the American Hospital Association, American College of Hospital Administrators, Hospital Association of Pennsylvania, Hospital Council of Western Pennsylvania Board and theGovernor's Committee on Employment of Handicapped and the Advisory Committee of the Millvale Volunteer Ambulance Service. In her later years, Sister offered her services by serving as the chairperson of the planning committee for the Annual Golf Outing sponsored by the Sisters. During her long life of Ministry, Sister became a compassionate presence to all peoples. To her family, those who loved her most dearly, she will be remembered simply as their "wise teacher". She was the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Rose Marie Greiner Wellinger; sister of the late Robert J. and Joseph S. Wellinger. Survived by many Loving nieces and nephews. Visitation at the MT. ALVERNIA MOTHERHOUSE CHAPEL, 146 Hawthorne Road, Millvale on Monday from 2-7 PM, where Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial to follow at the Sisters Cemetery at Mt. Alvernia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities, 146 Hawthorne Rd., Pgh., PA 15209.
