Carmen Lucila Bolivar

Carmen Lucila Bolívar, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the age of 87. She was born on December 24, 1935, in Maracay, Venezuela. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother, Belén; her husband, León Lorcas Ascanio; her four siblings, Toribio, Vivina, Vivian Felipe, and her sister, not by blood, dear Elena. Carmen Lucila, affectionately known as Luci or Sra. Lorcas spent most of her life in Maracay and Caracas, Venezuela, focusing on work and family. She was a beloved elementary teacher until she retired. Then after her daughters became members of the Núcleo La Rinconada de "El Sistema" (Venezuelan Youth Symphony Programs), she dedicated her life as a Coordinator of that Núcleo and created a lasting impact on the many students, colleagues, and families. Sra. Lorcas is remembered as kind, gentle, and respectful, always looking to teach and help others. Family was the center of Carmen Lucila's world; she is survived by her son Gever Tomás Carrillo Bolívar and his wife Glenda, her daughters Belmary Lorcas de Pérez, María Eugenia Lorcas de Aponte and her sons-in-law, Isaac Pérez, and Pedro Aponte. Carmen is also survived by her grandchildren, Sofía, Gevert, Fabiana, Luis, Amanda, Samuel, Ana, Santiago, Eylin, Isis, Junisis and Glisbeth; great grandmother of Marco, Santiago, Stephanie, Liam, Sofia, Xander and Mathew along with many nephews, nieces, and her sister-in-law Ana Rodríguez de Bolívar. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to call her a friend, creating a lasting memory and a legacy of love. Rest in peace, Carmen Lucila, and thank you for the teachings, love, and laughter you brought to our lives. A funeral Service will be held at D'Alessandro Funeral Home & Crematory Ltd., 4522 Butler Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15201 on Saturday, July 8, 2023. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am-3:00 pm with a Blessing Service led by Father Fernando Torres at 2:00pm.
