John J. Sham

John J. Sham March 18, 1942-April 4, 2023 John J. Sham of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, beloved husband of 62 years of Ellie (Baust) Sham passed peacefully at home with his family on April 4, 2023. Son of Joseph A. Sham and Dorothy D. (Sobota) Sham. He is preceded in death by his daughter Lisa L. Sham. His brothers and sisters, Sr. Dolores, Joseph Sham, James Sham, Richard Sham, and Tillie Virostek. John is survived by his daughter Kelly L. Sham. His grandchildren Jonathan Sham, Leah Viscusi, and Samantha L. Sham (Dan Leibhart). Great grandchildren Jayden and Layla. His sisters Alice Hamilton, Mary Broge, and Dorothy Marous (Dennis). Brother in law of Charles and Joan Maund. Many nieces and nephews. And his loving little dog Maddie. John was a Stone Mason by trade. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and building his own fishing rods. He spent many years as a self taught musician playing venues and weddings. Every gathering was filled with his music, singing, playing the guitar or the bass guitar. He and his family spent many years vacationing at Nags Head, NC where he enjoyed deep sea fishing and eating crab legs at the Wharf. He also spent many vacations in Florida, visiting family, fishing, going to the beach and taking his kids to Disney. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He and his wife attended several Super Bowls and traveled to other countries with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was an animal lover and often brought pets home to his family. John was always the first to lend a hand to those who needed help. He never shied away from using his knowledge to teach his children and grandchildren something new. He emulated kindness and compassion that would radiate to those around him. He had a wonderful sense of humor, always smiling and joking. When he wasn't sharing one of his many adventure stories he could be found relaxing on the porch swing in the summer with a good book. There are so many amazing things that could be said about John. His family and friends have so many wonderful memories. His smile shined bright, his hugs gave comfort and he always showed his love. He was larger than life and everything about him will be so greatly missed by everyone who loved him.
