Loretta L. Millender

Loretta "Babes" Millender was born on August 1, 1941, in Greensburg, PA to the late Edward Allen and Ella F. James Allen. Preceded in death by sister Jean Brown; sons Robert "Bobbie Davis", and Matthew Millender. On Tuesday, December 6, 2022, in the afternoon she departed this life at home. She accepted Christ into her life at 8 years of age at the St. Mark Church in Lawrenceville. She changed her membership and joined Trinity Baptist Church and was baptized on May 2, 1971, under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Matthew Strong. She was a member of the Sr. Usher Board, the United Voices, The Nurses, The Director of the Youth Department in 1974, served on the Pastors Aide Committee and was the primary fundraiser for the church. She was known all over the city for her cooking skills, selling dinners and feeding people. She devoted her life to serving her church and community. Loretta was joined in holy matrimony to Darrell Millender on August 16, 1997. Loretta held various jobs beginning with Jeffrey Boehm Candy Co. for more than 25 years; nursing assistant at St. Francis Hospital for 15 years until retirement. She was an entrepreneur in her own right. She stepped out on faith and opened her own restaurant in Lawrenceville called Stars. You were sure to get great home cooking and was well supported by her many friends. She served as Judge of Election in Pittsburgh for the ward 9. She was also featured in a local magazine called "STEEL THIS", as "MISS LORETTA'S CORNER". She was on the board of the community organization in Lawrenceville United. She leaves to cherish her memories; a husband, Darrell Millender; children, William Davis Jr., Gina Davis, Tracy Millender, Mary Claire (goddaughter); sisters, Edlene Allen, Debra Allen (Becky), Maurice Allen (Shirley; 8 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren, and a host of many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 3-7 PM, at the Trinity Baptist Church, 3415 Ligonier St, Pittsburgh, PA 15201, where family in friends will then gather on Saturday, for funeral mass at 11 AM.
